Statement of Faith –
Why Jesus?
Crestwood Christian Fellowship
A Statement of Faith
Since the beginning of time, mankind has searched for something to believe in. Something to place all hope in. Something to believe will make life better.
Here at Crestwood our faith – the object of our beliefs – the object of our worship – is not an imaginary object or something we have conjured up – but a real Person Who really lived – who is Jesus, the Christ.
We firmly believe that Jesus is the Son of God, Who came into this world to not only show us the nature and character of God – but also to take on Himself the punishment for the sins of every person (and we all sin) when He allowed Himself to be crucified. And through our faith – belief – trust – in Him, we will one day live with Him in a place called heaven, for eternity.
We firmly believe that when we place our faith in Jesus, we receive complete forgiveness for all our sins – past -present – and future – and we become part of His family – what Jesus calls His Church. Upon acceptance of Jesus, we are baptized in the Holy Spirit who dwells within us to guide and teach us (not to be confused with water baptism which is an act of obedience representing what has happened to us — death to our old self and reborn new in Christ). This means we are brothers and sisters and are called to love, protect, and care for each other. Church is not something we do; it is who we are.
We firmly believe that as dedicated followers of Jesus it is our privilege and responsibility to carry on His mission by spreading His love and offer of peace with God and forgiveness, and for caring for the poor around us, no matter whothey are, just as He did.
We firmly believe that Jesus did this for us out of love, and He is the only way anyone can be right with God and live eternally in heaven with God. The scriptures tells us in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me” and we take Him at His word, literally.
We firmly believe that He will return to earth just as He said in John 14:3 – soon.
We firmly believe that God has used a message system to communicate to us, a Holy Book, we call The Bible.
We firmly believe that The Bible has come to us from God – that every Word in it is from God Himself. Therefore, we place our teachings from the Bible – all of it.

Why Jesus? Simple. He proved Who He really is by showing us the power of God through miracles, even raising people from the dead. He proved Who He really is by fulfilling over 300 prophecies written over 1,500 of years by more than 40 different people that all pointed to Him without error or contradiction (miraculous considering no computers to look up and compare the Word against Itself at the time). And to top it off, He raised Himself from the dead — witnessed by thousands. Who else could but Jesus?
“That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.” – Isaiah 45:6
